The Rwanda Ministry of Health and Rwanda Biomedical Center, in partnership with the Rwanda Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD Alliance, the CDC Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Data for Health Initiative, has implemented several Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPSs to monitor disease trends and related risk factors. The first Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPS was implemented utilizing Short Message ServiceShort Message ServiceSMS to monitor Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD trends and related risk factors. Following the initial Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPS, Rwanda has remained an active partner and conducted two additional special topic surveys, both utilizing Short Message ServiceShort Message ServiceSMS. One prioritizes alcohol and tobacco use trends and the related behavioral risk factors, and the other prioritizes accessibility of over-the-counter medications.
