The Department of Health of the Republic of the Philippines has partnered with the CDC Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Data for Health Initiative since 2018 to implement Mobile Phone SurveyMobile Phone SurveyMPSs for disease surveillance efforts in the country. The Department of Health (DOH) has a longstanding commitment to capturing real-time data on behavior, exposure, knowledge, perceptions, care management and treatment. The DOH supports the tracking of disease trends to inform policies and resource allocation within the national health system.
Recognizing that efficient monitoring and surveillance are essential for tracking disease burden, related risk factors and policy interventions, the Epidemiology Bureau has conducted several mobile phone surveys. These include three national surveys utilizing Short Message ServiceShort Message ServiceSMS and mobile web focused on Non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseasesNCD risk factors, and two surveys utilizing Short Message ServiceShort Message ServiceSMS and mobile web aimed at enhancing the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
